Profile

Simonetta Montemagni is the Director of the Institute of Computational Linguistics "Antonio Zampolli" since December 2013. She has a Degree in the Humanities from the University of Florence (1986) and a Ph.D. in Computational Linguistics from the University of Manchester (1995). His research interests cover different areas of Computational Linguistics, ranging from Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Knowledge Management to Computational dialectology. Her research activities are carried out in the framework of many international, national and regional projects (for many of which she is scientific responsible and coordinator) and partnerships with Research Centers and large industrial companies. These activities have produced more than 150 publications (monographs, book chapters, papers in journals, conference proceedings and edited volumes), software prototypes and language resources. She taught Computational Linguistics and Digital Humanities courses in Perugia, Firenze, Ferrara and Pisa Universities (from graduate to PhD level) and supervised graduate and PhD theses in computational linguistics related subjects. Currently, she teaches Computational Linguistics at the University of Pisa (Master''s degree in Digital Humanities). Among her national and international scientific positions, she is member of Editorial Boards of journals and book series, member of scientific and organizing committees of national and international conferences, workshops and summer schools in the field of Computational Linguistics, peer reviewer for high impact international journals and expert evaluator of international projects.
