Profile

Paolo Squillacioti (b. 1965) was a student at Pisa University (Facoltà di Lettere e Filosofia) and at Scuola Normale Superiore, where he was achieved the PhD degree in Modern Philology and Linguistic. From 2018 (but with effect from January 1, 2010) he is researcher at Opera del Vocabolario Institute and acting director from September 16, 2013 to September 30, 2014, and from October 1 2018 to June 30, 2020. His studies and research activities deal with Romance Philology (Provençal troubadours, paticularly Folquet de Marselha; Brunetto Latini and his Tresor) and Italian literature of Middle Age (Tresor vernacular translation; influence of courtly literature on Dante and Boccaccio) and of 20th Century (Leonardo Sciascia and Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa). On these subjects, he is author of critical editions and studies in philology and literature, published in reviews, miscellaneous books, conference proceedings. His job at OVI Institute is devoted to the Tesoro della Lingua Italiana delle Origini (TLIO), at first as entries compilator, then as coordinator of TLIO editorial staff and as aide of the Pietro Beltrami's and Lino Leonardi's TLIO directorship. He has published several studies on TLIO and on other OVI resources, and he has popularized the OVI lessicographic tools in university lessons, seminars, meetings.
