Training

The IGB-ABT has a long tradition in the training of PhD students and post-docs and has developed a number of initiatives to attract young researchers. The IGB-ABT is indeed affiliated with the PhD Programs of the University Federico II and the the University degli Studi della Campania Luigi Vanvitelli; has been coordinator of two Initial Training Networks (ITN) from Marie Curie Actions within EU FP7 (DisChrom project, from 2009 to 2013; and INGENIUM project, from 2012 to 2015). Actually the IGB-ABT co-ordinates a novel international PhD programme (INCIPIT Project by H2020-MSCA-COFUND-.2014) for 35 international PhD positions.
In this context the IGB-ABT organizes and supports weekly International Seminars with distinguished speakers.
Since 1989 the IGB-ABT organizes every year in Capri an International and Interdisciplinary Workshop sponsored by EMBO or FEBS on relevant subjects in molecular and cellular biology.
Further activities are represented by the: "PhD Retreat", a day dedicated to the presentation of scientific activities by the PhD students to the board of Tutors and Researchers; the "Corsi all'IGB" which involves the direct interaction (for a week) by a leading international scientist and both the Phd students and IGB-ABT post-docs through a very informal meeting excluding Tutors and Researchers and with the aim to generate a genuine scientific interaction with the host scientist; the "Premio Giovani Biologi" co-sponsored by the Rotary Club Napoli; and the "Graziella Persico Lecture-Travel Award".
In addition the IGB-ABT promotes interactive activities with several schools through the "Convenzioni Operative per attività formative".
