IAHS/IUGG - International Association of Hydrological Sciences

At IUGG first General Assembly (Rome, 1922), the Section d'Hydrologie Scientifique became one of the constituent Sections of the Union and it took its present name at IUGG’s XV General Assembly (Moscow, 1971). IAHS promotes the study of all the aspects connected to hydrology through discussions, confrontations, publication of research results and by starting research activities that require international cooperation. IAHS Press publishes a bi-monthly journal named Hydrological Sciences Journal, the Red Book Series containing the proceedings of 8-12 symposia per year, as well as other specialized publications. IAHS has strong connections with the International Hydrological Program of UNESCO and the Hydrology and Water Resources Program of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO). The following International IAHS’s Committees promote and foster congresses, symposia, workshops, courses and research programs on:

  • Surface water (ICSW)
  • Groundwater (ICGW)
  • Continental Erosion (ICCE)
  • Statistical Hydrology (ICSH)
  • Snow and Ice (ICSI)
  • Water Quality (ICWQ)
  • Water Resources Systems (ICWRS)
  • Remote Sensing (ICRS)
  • Atmosphere - Soil - Vegetation Relations (ICASVR)
  • Tracers (ICT)

Next IAPSO-IMAS-IACS Joint Assembly will be held in Montpellier, France, from May 29th to June 3rd, 2022.
