Silvano Fares is a Research Director at the National Research Council (CNR) and currently Director of the Department of Bio-Agri-Food Sciences at the CNR. He has worked as a researcher at the University of California, Berkeley, the Council for Agricultural Research and Economics (CREA), and was Director of the Institute for Mediterranean Agricultural and Forestry Systems (ISAFoM-CNR). With expertise in plant ecophysiology, Silvano Fares has coordinated national and international projects studying greenhouse gas and pollutant sequestration in agricultural and forest ecosystems, and developed models for quantifying the ecosystem services provided by urban forests. He has served as a scientific advisor to the National Scientific Commission for the Antarctic, the ILEAPS scientific program, and the European Forest Institute. With a Scopus H-index of 44, he has published over 120 scientific articles in international journals, including Nature and Science.
