Degree in Chemistry cum laude (1990), Master in Glass Engineering (1991) and PhD in Chemical Sciences (1994) from the University of Padova (Italy). Post-doc fellow in Paris (UPMC, 1995), Visiting Scientist in Canada (University of Western Ontario, 2005 - 2008, 2011). She is currently Director of the CNR Department of Chemical Sciences and Materials Technologies (since 2020) and former Director of the CNR Institute of Condensed Matter Chemistry and Energy Technologies (ICMATE, 2014 - 2020). Research Scientist at CNR from 1996 to 2015, and Full Professor of General and Inorganic Chemistry at Padova University since 2016. She has been appointed governmental expert in the CapTech Materials and Structures of the European Defense Agency and expert in the governmental technical working group on Critical Raw Materials. She has been component of expert panels for the evaluation of international projects (EC, NSERC, AEI, FCT, NWO) and scientific coordinator and unit chair of national and international research projects. Former member of the Scientific Committee of the Italian Chemical Society, she is currently President of the Inorganic Chemistry Division of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry and member of the Scientific Board of IUPAC. She has been member of Istituto Veneto di Scienze, Lettere ed Arti in Venezia since 2021. She received the International IUPAC Award Distinguished Women in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering (2023), the Anassilaos Prize for Art, Culture, Economy and Science (2023) and the EniChem thesis Prize (1990). The scientific activity concerns the area of chemistry and materials and is focused on the development of light-emitting molecules and materials for innovative energy applications. She authored over 250 papers on international peer-reviewed scientific journals and she was invited as lecturer to over 40 national and international conferences, including initiatives on STEM disciplines.
