Mission
The institute deals with the systematic characterization at level of high-resolution of genetic variability and its consequences at phenotypic level through
i. the clarification of the genetic structure of the populations being examined and their evolutionary dynamics;
ii. the identification of the genetic determinants of multifactorial and monogenic diseases of interest;
iii. the analysis of quantitative traits of biomedical interest, in particular those potentially related to the discrete traits (diseases) being researched.
iv. targeted functional studies in vitro, ex vivo and in vivo to understand the pathogenetic mechanisms responsible for the pathologies being studied.
(v) the translation into a clinical setting of research results, in particular toward diagnostic and therapeutic applications.
