The National Research Council of Italy (CNR) is the largest public research institution in Italy under the Ministry of Education, University and Research. CNR eembraces seven departments and one hundred institues that perform multidisciplinary research activities and ensure large and effective European and International cooperation in all fields of knowledge. SSH and CH researchers are part of the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Cultural Heritage (DSU-CNR). Research priorities of DSU-CNR are RIs in Social and Cultural Innovation (S&CI), Migration, and Science in Society. It is in charge of the management of the national nodes of all European RIs in S&CI and of the ERANET Humanities European Research Area (HERA). In 2014, DSU-CNR organized the EU presidential conference that resulted in the 'Rome Declaration': Science in Society-Responsible Research and Innovation (SIS-RRI).
