Research Interest:
-Otx1 and Otx2 in brain development: extended functional equivalence between OTX1 and OTX2 proteins and the relevance of differential transcriptional control as the major molecular event in generating Otx1-/- and Otx2-/- divergent phenotypes.
-Dissection of Otx2 roles: Otx2 requirement in the visceral endoderm for anterior-posterior body axis conversion and in the early neuroectoderm for maintenance of the anterior identity.
- Functional equivalence between the invertebrate Orthodenticle and the murine OTX1 and OTX2 gene products supports a highgly conserved genetic program of brain development.
-Role of Orthopedia (Otp) in proliferation and differentiation of the neuroendocrine hypothalamus.
-Dosage-dependent role of OTX2 in specifying regional identities and neuronal cell types.
-Role of Otx2 and Gbx2 in the formation and positioning of the Isthmic Organizer.
-The role of Otx2in the control of positional identity of midbrain progenitors.
-The role of Otx2 in proliferation and differentiation of Dopaminergic precursors.
-Complexity of the Otx2 gene expression control:Otx2 mRNAs isoform specific requirement for body axis conversion and maintenance of rostral CNS identity.
-Role of Otx2 in murine Embryonic Stem cells committed to forebrain fate.
-Role of Otx1 and Otx2 in initiation and progression of medulloblastoma.
