Abstract

The TUNE-BEAM initiative aims at establishing the TUscany NEtwork for BioElectronic Approaches in Medicine. Bioelectronic approaches will be used in the TUNE-BEAM project to advance the scientific understanding of physiopathology of body organs and complex functions, as well as to translate such knowledge into medical practice in order to develop novel clinical strategies. Among the possible methods to gain access to the nervous system, the microneurographic and microneurostimulation techniques are characterized by low invasiveness and very good spatial and temporal selectivity. The TUNE-BEAM project will focus on the application of microneurography and microneurostimulation to develop AI-based predictive algorithms for fine-tuning of electroceutics treatments in neurological, cardiovascular and endocrinological diseases, and specifically for patients with limb amputations, patients with hypertension or heart failure and patients with unresponsive wakefulness syndrome and minimally conscious state.
