Mission
The Biophysics Institute performs fundamental and applied research into biology and biotechnology using the quantitative approach and instrumentation typical of physics. The studies, which seek to achieve a mechanistic understanding of natural phenomena, are mostly carried out at the cellular and molecular levels but may also concern biological systems as a whole. Interdisciplinary by nature, the Institute employs scientists from diverse backgrounds (physics, biology, chemistry and mathematics).
