Abstract
SmartPlaCE@Schools, follow-up of FosterERM@Schools, will develop creative learning materials on Circular Economy concepts and business models for highschool education. It will set up a Europe-wide digital platform that will host a dowloadable version of the serious game, EcoCEO, developed as an educational tool suitable for teenagers, as well as a range of learning materials focused on circular economy concepts and business models, and linked to the highschool curriculum.
The interactive platform will be able to involve students in an active learning by gamification methodology, support the teachers in using this tool and in capturing feedback from schools and teachers on their needs and experiences.
The use of the platform will help young adults to be aware of the complexity and interrelation of raw materials with environmental sustainability issues. Synergies with existing platforms, such as the RM@schools virtual center and other European initiatives, such as www.etwinning.net, will be exploited where possible
Obiettivi
As a follow-up project to FosterERM@schools, SmartPlaCE@Schools aims to use the insights gained from FosterERM@Schools to finetune the EcoCEO game prototype and develop it into a final, design-optimized, downloadable version accessible to schools and teachers, more specifically for upper secondary school students. In addition to the game materials, complementary didactic materials for teachers/facilitators will be developed to deepen and enrich the learning experience. The developed learning materials will be thouroughly tested with teachers and students during the development phase to assure the content fits their needs and requirements.
In addition, feedback from schools will be captured on the platform.
The general objects to be reached are the following:
Raising awareness for and emphasizing the attractiveness of job opportunities in the Raw Materials sector.
o Encouraging careers in science and technology in general
o Providing high-quality and up-to-date learning materials on highly relevant subjects.
o Linking traditional and theoretical school curricula with current raw material industry challenges
o Providing practice-driven tools as an alternative for theory-focused cla
