Claudio Conti (Ph.D. 2002, ERC StGrant 2008) is Director of ISC-CNR and Associate Professor at the Department of Physics of the University Sapienza of Rome, where he founded the Nonlinear Photonics Laboratory and obtained the italian habilitation as full professor in 2012. Formerly Senior Researcher at the Institute for Complex Systems (ISC-CNR) in Rome (IT), New Talent Grant from the Research Center Enrico Fermi, Humboldt fellowship for Experience Researchers at the Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light (2011-2013), Starting Independent Research Grant from the European Research Council (ERC), with the project Light and Complexity. Principal Investigator of the ERC Proof of Concept Grant Vanguard (2016) and Principal Investigator of the grant from the Templeton Foundation Generalized Uncertainty Principle and the Photon (2015-2017).
CC graduated in 1997 in Electrical Engineering at Sapienza (Rome, IT) and obtained the Ph.D. in 2002 at the University Roma Tre (IT).
Teaching: courses in Photonics and General Physics at the Department of Physics, Mathematics, Engineering and Medicine of Sapienza (100 students per year). 10 master students, 5 Ph.D. students, and 5 Post-docs since 2011.
Research: experiments, theory, and massively parallel computation, in nonlinear physics, optics, photonics, complex systems, biophysics, soft-matter, and network theory, in academic and industrial institutions.
CC authored more 210 articles (including 34 Physical Review Letters, 1 Nature, 1 Science, 2 Nature Physics, 5 Nature Communications, and 4 Nature Photonics) and 10 book chapters; contributed to more than 140 international conferences (50 invited talks). CC has more than 8000 citations in Google Scholar (Scopus h-index 39, Google h-index 44, OrCiD 0000-0003-2583-3415, Scopus Author ID: 7202440582). CC participated in many national and international research projects, organized various international conferences, and has been a member of various boards and selection committees.
