Abstract

The project represents a continuum of SALT project funded by ENI and aims to develop and test innovative and advanced protocols to treat hypersaline contaminated soil/waters by the selection of plant resistant to salt stress. The support of selected endophytic bacteria strains will be approached in different growth conditions aimed to ameliorate plant growth and improve contaminant treatment performance.
Waters and soil will be analyzed to monitor the contaminant treatment. Plant will be analyzed in chemical, morphological and biochemical parameters to evaluate health status.
Plant species will be selected as most adapted to saline environment. Different ecotype could be collected from different locations and tested.
Experimental trials will be conducted at IRET-CNR (Pisa) in the growth chamber and/or in the renewed green house.
