Abstract
To respond to an increasing dependency of green technologies on Rare-Earth magnets, there is a strong need to make recycling technologies operational in large-scale systems. The INSPIRE project aims at recovering and supplying Rare-Earths within EU borders through radical innovations in the recycling of permanent magnets, focusing on the most common and readily available source of economically recyclable electric motors: large domestic appliances (LDA). INSPIRE will optimize methods and derive procedures in order to successfully implement at industrial level sustainable dismantling, extraction, recycling, improving quality of basic powders, production, and use of recycled magnets in new electric motors and new LDAs.
