Abstract

The present proposal aims to explore a number of scientific routes and new physics approaches, towards enhancing the performance and functionality of nowadays available THz high-precision spectrometers. Tracing a working path to our main objective, there are a number of intermediate milestones that need to be addressed. Specific goals of the present proposal include:
- Novel set-ups for THz comb generation
- Characterization of THz FC frequency- and phase- noise
- Characterization of THz FC amplitude-noise
- Dual comb spectroscopy
- Room temperature phase locking of a THz QCL to the THz FC
- Sub-Doppler molecular spectroscopy
- Exploitation of the European Fiber Network for Frequency & Time
Our proposal aims to a step-change in the upcoming field of THz metrology, combining the well established background on OFCS and high precision spectroscopy, with cutting edge THz photonics and devices. This will help disclosing a new physics, as well as myriads of applications in the once-known-as "teraherz gap".
