The existing challenges in contemporary society are indicated by the EU Cohesion Policy in contrasting climate change, enhancing the perspective of green and circular economies and, in general terms, supporting a more inclusive and sustainable development. Digital technologies, including Key Enabling Technologies (KETs) represent key drivers for improving both the EU competiveness and societal cohesion, by introducing extended interaction linking human beings, computers and environments consistent with contemporary life styles and livings. Despite the EU capacity in producing patents and digital tools, there is a lack of capacity in building sector on competitive advantages and providing market opportunities in the European value chains.
In such scenario the EU competences in creating responsive, self-organized and autonomous systems, finds its main failure in the difficulties of transferring such innovation in the existing market, with special regard to the construction sector. World Economic Forum states that the construction sector presents a conservative approach to the innovation upgrading, so that its transformation is far from the smart objectives and it grows slower than ot

Goals

The expected outcomes of the research are the following:
- Empirical framework for transferring the smart environment dedicated methodology to the Italian construction sector;
- Pilot projects for testing the above mentioned methodology in order to assess some key topics
- Conceptual model for the meta-design of digital platform for the knowledge transfer in the new smart environment
