Abstract
Economic Fitness and Complexity (EFC) is a new scientific framework for Macroeconomics based on a bottom up, data driven approach inspired to statistical physics and complex system science. The key starting point is that more data do not necessarily lead to better analysis. The focus is on the signal to noise ratio, rather than simple data collection, followed by original network algorithms. Compared to conventional economic models, the EFC approach obtains quantitative results and identifies relationships in a scientific and objective way. Early results are already
competitive with the standard analyses but need less data and can be reproduced and tested scientifically. The World Bank and various overnments are already adopting this new methodology.
