Abstract

The Copernicus Marine Environment Monitoring Service (CMEMS) is one of the six services of the Copernicus program. Since the 1st May 2015 CMEMS provides regular and systematic reference information on the physical state, variability and dynamics of the ocean, ice and marine ecosystems for the global ocean and the European regional seas. CMEMS includes both satellite and in-situ high level products prepared by Thematic Assembly Centers (TACs) and modelling and data assimilation products prepared by Monitoring and Forecasting Centers (MFCs).
The Ocean Colour Thematic Assembly Centre (OC TAC) is one of the assembly centres of the CMEMS dedicated to colour satellite data. OCTAC shall contribute to CMEMS objectives by generating higher level observational combined products. The OCTAC should also play the role of expert centres for input data quality of current or past observations as this is of prime importance to generate multi-mission/multi-sensor observational products for both direct dissemination to users and assimilation by MFCs.
