Abstract

Reactor pressure vessel (RPV) and internals configuration and dimensional information are key design inputs for numerous plant activities related to operation and maintenance of the BWR. Member utilities are often challenged by lack of sufficient component drawings and inability to obtain authorization to transmit design drawings to vendors to support necessary engineering evaluations. Utilities have already used laser scanning technologies to obtain as-built measurements of interior spaces in buildings in order to plan activities and have developed underwater laser metrology tools in order to obtain as-built measurements for reactor internals repair planning and degradation dispositions. EPRI desires to understand the feasibility of using principles of photogrammetry with historical in-vessel inspection video to obtain reactor internals dimensional information. If the photogrammetric method can be shown to be a viable method for obtaining reactor internals dimensional information, of sufficient accuracy, then this methodology would provide utilities with a tool that can be used, outside of an outage, with existing inspection video, to obtain the dimensional information necessary
