Abstract

The aim of the project is to advance knowledge on methods and models of operations research applied to green transition, sustainability, and circular economy. The methods studied in this project will cover mixed integer linear programming, combinatorial optimization, discrete event simulation, machine learning. Solution approaches will be both exact and approximated (e.g. metaheuristics and matheuristics). The studied methods will be applied to specific problems such as planning and scheduling for sustainable production systems and circular economy, routing, accessibility in smart cities, last mile delivery and supply chain management. The selection of the specific problem studied will be done analysing real case studies. Publications on scientific journals / book chapters / international conferences will be done in order to disseminate the results.
