Hydrogen Generator for Fuel Cell

2016
The question of the worlwide climate modification, due to the human emissions (i.e. greehnouse gas) is alwais more stringent: Europe consumes more petroleum for transportation than for any other energy use; transportation is responsible for about half of the smog forming pollutants in our cities, for up to 90% of the carbon monoxide, and for more than half of the toxic air pollutants. The need to accelerate the development of the technologies able to reduce the effect of the human activity ...

Hydrogen Generator from LPG

2007
Institute CNR/TAE has developed a hydrogen generator (from light hydrocarbons like methane, LPG) for Polymer Electrolyte Fuel Cell, named HYGEN II, in order to overcome the main limits of the hydrocarbons steam reforming technology, for residential use. The proposed solution is based on autothermal reforming reactions. HYGen II can reach a nominal hydrogen production of 5 Nm3h-1 (from methane, propane, LPG, butane) with a maximum hydrogen production of 8.5 Nm3h-1. The net size (mm) of the fuel ...

Electrochemical supercapacitors for electric vehicles

2007
Supercapacitors are electrochemical devices which can be efficiently used together with primary electric current generators in mobile applications. They are characterized in supplying high electric power for short times (seconds), while the electrical generators (batteries and fuel cells) are suitable in delivering electric current for longer times at constant load. Thus supercapacitors, may be advantageously used, together with batteries and fuel cells, in the electric vehicles, in the ...

Realization of a solid oxide fuel cell stack

2003
In the framework of the project FISR SOFC it has been realised the first SOFC stack prototype designed and realized in Italy. The aim is to operate the stack at intermediate temperatures between 600° and 800°C. The interconnectors are realised in ferritic stainless steel . This materials allow good thermal compatibility with the ceramic materials, high mechanical stability. The problems related with the cathodic corrosion have been mitigated by using perovkite coatings. The stack is equipped ...
