Research interests

The team research interest is centered on neurological diseases, experimental therapeutics and neuroplasticity, focusing on basal ganglia-related disorders (BG). Ongoing projects are centered on Parkinson’s disease (PD) and preclinical evaluation of new treatment strategies with metabotropic glutamate receptors ligands or modulators of potassium channels in animal models of PD. The involvement of the BG in sensorimotor control and cognition is assessed by a combination of behavioural, pharmacological, cellular and optogenetic approaches.
