Abstract
The proposed project will be implemented by researchers from the Center of Excellence in Desalination Technology (CEDT) at King Abdulaziz University (KAU) in collaboration with their counterparts from (1) the Desalination Technologies Research Institute (DTRI)- Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC), Jubail, (2) the Institute on Membrane Technology (ITM)- CNR, Italy and (3) the Membrane Science and Technology Research Center (MSTRC), Nanjing Tech University, China. To achieve the goal of increasing desalinated water capacity of Saudi Arabia by 50% the R&D efforts in desalination technologies should be accompanied with a guiding strategy/roadmap for development of the desalination sector in the kingdom based on innovative approaches. Accordingly, this proposal is structured in four different WPs. The first WP will deal with the desalination sector development roadmap which can be regarded as a detailed implementation plan for the strategic objectives of Saudi Arabia Vision 2030 pertained to desalination and waste water treatment. The remaining three packages will be R&D endeavours focusing on developing emerging membrane technologies for increasing desal water production.
Obiettivi
1.The research project will create understanding on the applicability and efficiency of the emerging
hybrid membrane technology and its applications in desalination and water reuse.
2. The findings will help to develop commercial membrane products for desalination, water reuse and
minerals recovery.
