Abstract
The Human Brain Project (HBP) is entering a new operational phase that seeks to improve understanding of the human brain and to emulate its computational capabilities. HBP's extensive research plan will be organized into sub-projects regulated by biennial Specific Grant Agreements. IBF's senior scientist Dr. Michele Migliore will lead investigation in the development of a brain simulation platform.
https://www.humanbrainproject.eu/
IBF's participation mainly centres on designing, implementing and operating the HBP Brain Simulation Platform, which will be accessible to users via the Collaboratory Portal. The Brain Simulation Platform will consist of a collection of Apps, APIs and Platform Foundation Software, which supports productive collaborations to build, simulate, analyse, validate and disseminate data-driven brain models. Part of the activity will include a pilot project, which will develop and test strategies for fostering community convergence through data-driven reconstruction and simulation of the mouse hippocampus, providing feedback for the design of the Collaboratory Portal, and of community collaboration tools.
