Abstract
The overall aim of the LIFE ADAPT2CLIMA project is to build a solid knowledge base on the future climate changes and their impacts on the agricultural sector of three European islands in the Mediterranean basin, namely Crete (Greece), Sicily (Italy) and Cyprus as well as to reduce vulnerability and increase resilience to climate change risks by assessing the effectiveness of the available adaptation measures, increasing capacity building and developing strategies for the adaptation of the agricultural sectors of the three islands to climate change.
The project aims to develop an innovative decision support tool for the assessment of climate change vulnerability and adaptation of agriculture, by simulating the impacts of climate change on the crop production of the agricultural areas and the effectiveness of selected adaptation options in decreasing the vulnerability of these areas to climate change.
In particular, the results of climate change projections, the assessment of the future hydrological conditions related to agriculture, the assessment of the vulnerability of selected crops to climate change and the evaluation of the identified adaptation options, will be integrated int
