The International Medical Geology Association (IMGA), the Italian Chapter on Medical Geology and the Italian Association for the Study of Clays (AISA) organize the 4th International Conference on Medical Geology. The theme of the Conference, Geological & Medical Sciences for a Safer Environment, provides a unique opportunity for mineralogists, physicians, soil scientists, toxicologists, geochemists, veterinarians, biologists, chemists and for many other specialists to share ideas and knowledge on the impact of natural environment on health.
The IMGA (International Medical Geology Association) in cooperation with AISA (Associazione Italiana per lo Studio delle Argille) are organizing the IV International Conference on Medical Geology. The international Scientific Community, having recognized the important role played by the Italian group which refers to the CNR Laboratory of Medical and Environmental Geology, has decided to entrust them with the conference organization. The meeting will take place for the first time in Europe, and will be held in Bari, Italy, from 20th to 25th September 2011. The themes of the conference, Geological and Medical Sciences for a Safe Environment, will offer doctors, mineralogists, physicists, pedologists, toxicologists, geochemists, veterinary surgeons, biologists, chemists and many others a unique opportunity to share ideas and solutions for the natural environmental impact on human health.
The manifold issues to be dealt with are the following:
- Air, Soil, Water Pollution & Quality
- Minerals & Environment
- Environmental Toxicology & Epidemiology
- Biominerals & Biomaterials
- Risk Assessment & Communication in Medical Geology
The scientific themes take into account the relations between geo-environmental factors and human health with the aim of highlighting and/or reducing some risk factors relating both to environmental catastrophes and geo-environmental pollution processes with which people have to live daily.
