On Thursday, 10 October 2024, a first online workshop, organised - among others - in cooperation with the Institute for Research on Innovation and Services for Development (Cnr-Iriss), will be held as part of the project ‘Enhancing Cultural Resilience of Third-Generation Diaspora Through Digital Technologies and Storytelling of Indian Tangible and Intangible Heritage’.
Funded by the Scheme for Promotion of Academic and Research Collaboration, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, the research investigates the diaspora communities in India, focusing specifically on the measures that will help third-generation Indian diaspora that has assimilated the culture of their host to the detriment of their country of origin cultural heritage. In addressing third generation syndrome issues, the project will exploit the use of emotive form of storytelling, combining them with digital model of heritage assets in India to create awareness among the third generation Indians in the diaspora on the value and significance of Indian tangible and intangible heritage.
The workshop is the first event within a cycle of workshops and peer learning visits, including scholars, students and local stakeholders from Italy, UK and India. Gabriella Esposito, Senior Researcher at Cnr-Iriss, and Maria Cerreta, Full professor of Environmental Assessment and Evaluation at the University of Naples Federico II and Cnr-Iriss associate, will provide insights on digital tools for community engagement and participatory design experiences. They will highlight case studies from previous projects and showcase specific tools that demonstrate effective engagement strategies, allowing participants to see their application in real-world scenarios. Such tools and experiences are preparatory background for the mission that will take place in India in January 2025 in order to explore Indian cultural roots.
