We have a dream: room-temperature superconductivity (EUCAS)

Il 06/09/2023 ore 18.00 - 19.00

Palazzo della Cultura e dei Congressi, Sala Europa Auditorium, Bologna

On Wednesday, September 6th, as part of the 16th European Conference on Applied Superconductivity "EUCAS", a round table titled "We have a dream: room-temperature superconductivity" and open to journalists and media operators will be held in Bologna (Palazzo della Cultura e dei Congressi, Sala Europa Auditorium, 6.30 pom - 7.15 pm, live stream on https://youtube.com/live/wV0t76cc6ts).

The event, organized in collaboration between the Electrical, Electronic and Information Engineering Department of the University of Bologna, CERN, the SuPerconducting and other INnovative materials and devices Institute of the National Research Council (Cnr-Spin), and ENEA, is an opportunity to focus on the potential scientific and technological impact of room temperature superconductivity, in particular following the recent announcement from the South Korean on a new room temperature and ambient pressure superconducting material (LK-99).

Moderated by Paola Catapano (scientific communicator and editorial content producer at CERN), the round table includes speeches by internationally renowned scientists and researchers who deal with various aspects of superconductivity, from theory to applications:

Tabea Arndt (Karlsruhe Institute of Technology), Lilia Boeri (University of Rome La Sapienza), Anna Grassellino (FermiLab), David Larbalestier (Applied Superconductivity Center, Florida State University) and Tsuyoshi Tamegai (University of Tokyo).

The European Conference on Applied Superconductivity “EUCAS”, will be held at the Palazzo della Cultura e dei Congressi in Bologna from 3rd to 7th September 2023. The conference is a world event where top experts in all areas of applied superconductivity share the latest advances in their fields, from materials to conductors, large-scale applications for medicine, research and energy transition, as well as electronics for novel devices and quantum computing.

It is organized by the Electrical, Electronic and Information Engineering Department of the University of Bologna and by the European Society for Applied Superconductivity (ESAS): further information can be found at the links https://eucas2023.esas.org/
