Young RM Ambassadors at the Mineral Show

The 51st Edition of the Mineral Show will be staged from 18 to 20 June 2021, the first event with live attendance after the lockdown, and the stand set up by the National Research Council of Italy (Cnr) will be available to the public for three days at the Bologna Fair.
In the wake of the Third Mission initiatives that the Cnr Institute of Marine Sciences (Ismar) and Cnr Institute of Organic Synthesis and Photoreactivity (Isof) dedicate to the training of young people through the European educational project "Raw MatTERS Ambassadors at Schools" - coordinated by the Cnr and funded by the European Institute for Innovation and Technology (EIT) - the boys and girls of high schools, called 'Young RM Ambassadors', will animate the activities within the space dedicated to the theme of Raw Materials, in this case geology and minerals.
In fact, the project aims to actively and directly involve the students of secondary schools of II degree in scientific dissemination activities, transforming them into "ambassadors", to raise awareness about the problems that affect the future of our society from a perspective of Sustainable Development.
For this occasion, the activities were agreed upon and implemented thanks to the joint action of two European projects dedicated to young people and schools, BettergeoEdu 2.0 and RM@Schools: a group consisting of 3 boys and 6 girls, from 5 classes of high schools Liceo Copernico and Liceo Galvani of Bologna, will guide children to discover geology through the use of the famous Mincraft video game, which was modified to make its elements and mechanics closer to real-world geology. In short, they will act as tutors for the youngest visitors, making parents and children happy.
Before the event, the 9 Young RM Ambassadors followed a training carried out by Luca Bellucci (Cnr-Ismar), Renata Lapiska-Viola and Armida Torreggiani (Cnr-Isof), which took place in presence... taking advantage of the foliage of some trees to mitigate the heat.
