The Symposium 'Monitoring of Mediterranean Coastal Areas. Problems and Measurement Techniques' is organized by the National Research Council of Italy - Institutefor Bioeconomy (Cnr-Ibe) in collaboration with University Departments.

The event, now in its eighth edition, is addressed every two years to all the scholars of the coastal areas of the waterside countries. In particular, as in previous editions, Symposium is proposed as a place to make known the research work carried out over the last few years on the subject of monitoring the Mediterranean, and therefore an opportunity to present new proposals and promote actions to safeguard the marine and coastal environment.

The Symposium addresses issues related to Mediterranean coastal areas and searches for technical and instrumental solutions to problems related to: flora and fauna of the littoral system; management of the integrated coastal protection; energy production in the coastal areas; morphology and evolution of the coastline; legal and economic aspects; coastline geography and coastal landscape; safeguard and protection of cultural heritage and environmental assets; human influence on coastal landscape.

The Symposium will take place in Livorno from 16 to 18 June 2020, at the Museum of Natural History of the Mediterranean.

The symposium will also include:
- oral presentations;
- a poster session.
