Il 01/10/2019 ore 15.00 - 18.30
Cnr - Sala Giacomello del Cnr - p.le Aldo Moro, 7 - Roma
Mauro Nasti de Vincentis is former professor of logic at the University of Salerno. His research has focused on three main areas, with particular attention to some issues within each.
Regarding logic and its relations with mathematics, he has worked primarily on computational tractability and constructive ergodic analysis. Regarding history of ideas, he has focused on Newton's natural philosophy (especially the mathematics underlying the Principia) and Hegel's philosophy of nature (in collaboration with Cinzia Ferrini). Regarding history of ancient logic, he has worked and continue to work on three topics: Aristotle's logic (including - in collaboration with Carmela Baffioni - the so called Farabian interpretation of his doctrine of contingent singular futures); stoic and megaric logic; Boethius' logic, including some of their modern counterparts (e.g. relevance logic and consequential logic) and rational reconstructions as well.
