As part of the 'Musical-Moods' Marie Skodowska-Curie fellowship, a new multimodal and mood-based dataset will soon be released online.
The dataset comprises audio excerpts, vector-based 3D animations and dance video recordings from automatic sound generation with professional dancers, indexed by language modelling of the participants.
The dataset features Paolizzo's VIVO interactive music system and a 30-camera Vicon motion capture system coupled with a green-screen digital video capture environment.
The talk presents the current state of the project and the next stages of research. Fabio Paolizzo focuses his research on interactive and intelligent music systems by taking an interdisciplinary approach, at the meeting point between informatics, musical composition and musicology.
He is currently Scientific Coordinator and PI for the Musical-Moods project, including a Postdoc research fellow joint appointment at UCI in the Depts. of Cognitive Sciences and Dance, as well as at University of Rome Tor Vergata in the Dept. of Electronic Engineering. Dr. Paolizzo is Co-Director of the Master in Sonic Arts of the University of Rome in the Dept. of Humanities. He holds a BA (Hons) and MA (Hons) in Musicology from that same university, as well as a PhD in Music and Technology from University of Kent.
He has a strong record of accomplishment in using music practice, also in live interaction with other artistic disciplines, as a means for designing and evaluating research goals and deliveries, spanning papers, computer programs and music works such as compositions and installations.
