GEO Workshop: Towards a sustainability process for GEOSS Essential Variables (EVs)

Within the European H2020 ConnectinGEO (H2020-SC5-2014 641538) project (http://www.connectingeo.net/) and the Group on Earth Observations (GEO) (https://www.earthobservations.org/index.php ), CNR-ISSIA and CNR-IIA are organizing an international workshop on Essential Variables, in collaboration with the Euro Mediterranean Centre on Climate Change (CMCC).
Tha main objectives of the workshop are:
a) Review the status of existing Essential Variables (EVs) in different Societal Benefit Areas (agriculture, biodiversity, climate, disasters, ecosystems, energy, health, water, weather), and the processes used to identify them.
b) Clarify to what extent these EVs are validated and used.
c) Develop consensus on a common process for the identification of EVs in support of the communities that are currently defining them.
d) Attempt an integration of the different sets of EVs developed so far.
