The Werner syndrome helicase/exonuclease its regulation and multiple roles in safeguarding genome integrity during DNA replication

Il 31/10/2014 ore 14.30 - 15.30

Sala Conferenze CNR, Via P. Castellino, 111 80131 Napoli

Dr Pietro Pichierri's group at Istituto Superiore di Sanità, Section of Experimental and Computational Carcinogenesis in Rome, investigates the mechanisms controlling genome stability in human cells, in particular during the S-phase of the cell cycle. Our research effort aims to define the cellular pathways triggered at perturbed replication forks, and how they are regulated in normal and pathological conditions, such as cancer and chromosome fragility syndromes. From the translational point of view, we hypotheses that identification of cancer-related replication fork recovery mechanisms may help in developing novel and specific therapies against cancer.
