Abstract

The project final objective is improving and strengthen the connection between practice (foresters,
farmers, SMEs and public administration in rural areas), and science (official research bodies,
technology centres and universities), offering a channel to two-way flow of information and new
ideas for the adoption of bioenergy solutions within European agro and forestry practitioners and
environment. More specifically the project aims to:
1. Creating networks at national level, developing long-term opportunities for practitioners by
sharing and providing practical knowledge
2. Accelerate the uptake of best practises by exchanging knowledge of most cost efficient supply of
forest, - agri,- and SRC-biomass.
3. Boost the implementation of currently available and "close to put into practice"- technologies
and their combinations (hybrid systems) for bioeconomy solutions integrated with bioenergy
conversion in farm- and SME -scale through 11 show case days and 29 workshops for the
practitioners.

Goals

4. Observe the framework conditions of the rural areas and its influence in the penetration and
adoption of bioenergy solutions in rural environments; furthermore identify good practices and
synthesise recommendations for policy instruments, regulations and financing mechanisms.
5. Synthesise the scientific and practical knowledge created, to user-friendly format and education
materials and dissemination this information widely to European farmers, forest owners and energy
entrepreneurs.
6. Collect ideas from end-users for further research, and disseminate this information to EIP-AGRI
network, as well as nationally through the relevant key actors of the national AKIS - Agricultural
Knowledge and Innovation System.
BRANCHES project aims to fostering knowledge transfer and innovation in agriculture, forestry
and rural areas, enhancing the viability and competitiveness of biomass supply chains and
promoting innovative technologies and sustainable forest management.
