Abstract

The main goal of the project is to create a community to experiment and share a learning strategy, based on computer games, for growing interest with consequent knowledge consolidation and high quality skills improvement.
To accomplish it, we address several objectives:
- develop a wide set of test groups in two different countries and for different school level;
- define and share a clear set of common science school curriculum elements (climate dynamics, plants ecosystem, human wellness, environmental and physic data analysis) for traditional lectures (phase 1) aimed to
- transmit active long-term knowledge for progress in good game project and design (phase 2)
- promote a learning strategy to engage and motivate over passing rote memorization
A network with actors and stakeholders from different field (teaching and research community, industry, Municipalities) inside the consortium and around the project, assure a wide diffusion of the project objectives and goals acting as "consumers" and providers of arguments and strategies of teaching.

Goals

The DIGITgame project intends to attract young people to science studies by supplying an alternative way to use and apply basic and advanced scientific concepts in a technological tool very familiar and appealing as a videogame.
The challenge to build the "Citizens of the future" based on sustainability, resilience, citizens' rights, expectations and wellness which will stimulate students in an active exploration and acquisition of physical and scientific concepts. The positive competition between the different "designer groups" in different school and countries will increase the use of acquired concepts to develop alternative ideas and solutions to better face the game contest.
