Global Research Council at CNR

On November 5th and 6th, the National Research Council has hosted in Rome, together with the Russian Foundation of Basic Research (RFBR), the European preparatory meeting ahead of the Global Research Council Summit that will be held in New Delhi next May 2016.

The 55 participants representing both "Research Performing Organizations" and "Research Funding Agencies", have held a plenary meeting in Marconi Room, to elaborate the messages to be proposed at the above mentioned Summit on the two topics assigned by the previous Summit in Tokyo: Interdisciplinarity; Equality and Status of Women in Research.

On this occasion, in addition to the experts from various European countries, also representatives from nine Eastern Europe nations have participated, together with two representatives of the European Commission, three members of Science Europe, two representatives of the Global Research Council and a delegation of six Russian experts.

As of the beginning of 2011, CNR has deemed the Global Research Council as a virtual association having the goal of directing the scientific process towards a more unified approach. This the spirit of the CNR event, organized, through its International Relations Office and in collaboration with the Russian Foundation of Basic Research, with the purpose of supporting all countries, globally, in their effort to strengthen multilateral research cooperation.
