On January 27th, the first edition of the "Marine Geology Advanced School: Deep-Sea Frontiers" kicked off: the initiative is organized by the Institute of marine sciences of the National Research Council of Italy (Cnr-Ismar), bringing together in Bologna, until January 30th, scientists and researchers from around the world, as well as experts in various fields of Marine Geology.

The school is hosting 30 young participants, including recent graduates, PhD students, and researchers from across Europe, alongside 10 female researchers from developing countries. These women are supported by the Women in Blue: Training Opportunities in Ocean Science project, a collaboration between the International Seabed Authority and Cnr-Ismar.

Lectures and practical sessions are coordinated by over 20 national and international experts, offering a comprehensive range of knowledge and hands-on experience in exploring geological processes in deep-sea environments, as well as advanced technologies for ocean floor acquisition and analysis.
