Jose' Lorenzana main area of research is on complex and quantum materials, intended as materials where the strong correlation and/or disorder play an important role. His research includes nonequilibrium systems, transition metals oxides, multiferroic systems, glassy systems, systems with a tendency to phase separation frustrated
by Coulomb and elastic forces, high temperature and/or strongly disordered superconductors. He has developed new methods in strongly correlated systems. Presently, he is directing a national project to synthesize new superconducting materials.
