Abstract

The three-dimensional capabilities of femtosecond laser micromachining make this tool unique in the microfabrication landscape for photonic devices. In this project, we will investigate the fabrication of photonic devices with 3D layouts and extreme resolution to produce photonic crystal nanocavities, new waveguiding concepts and manipulation of the orbital angular momentum of light on a chip. These devices will find application in standard telecommunications as well as in quantum communications and technologies
