Applications Now Open for the 9th Business and Human Rights Summer School

The ninth edition of the Business and Human Rights Summer School will take place from 8 to 12 June 2026 at the Cnr-Iriss headquarters in Naples. The course, offered every year in hybrid format (both in person and online), aims to provide participants—young researchers, PhD candidates, lawyers, corporate officers, and civil society representatives from around the world—with an in-depth understanding of the international system on business and human rights and its intersections with sustainability and ESG-related issues.

The general programme focuses on the content of the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, the relevant high-level international standards, and their implementation at national and international levels. The thematic forums, instead, address specific and current issues within the contemporary debate on business and human rights.

The Summer School benefits from the endorsement of the Interministerial Committee for Human Rights (CIDU) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and includes among its Faculty members leading international experts in the field, coming from different regions of the world. Their contributions provide the necessary multidimensional perspective on the challenges concerning regulating private-sector activities from human rights and environmental perspectives. Many lecturers are members of prestigious international institutions such as the United Nations, the Council of Europe, and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The course also benefits from close collaboration with members of the UN Working Group on Business and Human Rights.

The early-bird deadline is 1 April 2026, while the final deadline for applications is 1 May 2026. Further information on the programme and application procedure will be available on the BHR Summer School official website
