The RISEnergy project is organising a half-day online workshop dedicated to metadata management, aimed at Research Infrastructure (RI) providers and users who wish to make their data more accessible, reusable, and compliant with the FAIR principles.
CNR offers free access to its Research Infrastructure (RI) as a project partner.

Within the context of Horizon Europe-funded RI access projects, ensuring the proper availability of research outputs is a shared responsibility. However, creating high-quality metadata remains a challenge for many researchers and data managers. This workshop is designed to provide practical support and concrete tools to address this challenge effectively.
During the event, through practical demonstrations and hands-on sessions, participants will be introduced to the Coscine MD platform and the AIMS metadata creation tool, which is used within RISEnergy. These tools enable the generation of structured metadata tailored to different types of research outputs (datasets, images, documents, and other digital objects) and aligned with various usage scenarios, such as sharing within a scientific community, enabling data reuse, or supporting specific research workflows.
By the end of the workshop, participants will have gained:
- hands-on experience with a metadata creation tool;
- a clearer understanding of how to structure metadata effectively;
- reusable skills that extend beyond the lifetime of the project, supporting Open Science as well as collaborative or local research initiatives.
While the workshop is particularly relevant for project partners, it is open to anyone interested in improving their metadata management practices. Participants new to metadata will benefit from a clear and practical introduction, while more experienced users will learn how to adapt or integrate existing metadata schemas to enhance accessibility and interoperability.
Participation is free of charge; however, registration is required.
All registered participants will receive an information package in advance, including documentation to review and work on prior to the workshop.
