GEOSS is intended to\nserve users in nine Societal Benefit Areas\n(SBA s) of Earth Observation, particularly in\nsupport of decision and policy making. The\nsuccess of GEO depends strongly on the\ncontributions and support from a wide\nrange of Science and Technology (S&T)\ncommunities.\nThe EGIDA main goal has been to\nsupport broader implementation and\nsustainability of the GEOSS S&T roadmap\nand the mission of the GEOSS facilitating a\ncoherent and interoperable networking of\nnational and international initiatives and\nEuropean projects.\nEGIDA has prepared a sustainable\nprocess promoting coordination of\nactivities carried out by: the GEO S&T\nCommittee; S&T national and European\ninitiatives; and other S&T Communities.\nEGIDA has delivered evaluation\nprocesses, tests and assessment indexes,\nexpertise databases, a \\\"GEO Label\\\"\nconcept, surveys, and other instruments\nand service functions that facilitate the\nlink of relevant European and global\nS&T communities to GEOSS and ensure\nit is built using state-of-the-art S&T.\nThrough co-ordination with the relevant\ntasks of the Institutional Development\nImplementation Board (former tasks of the\nGEOSS S&T Committee), these deliverables\nwill contribute strongly to the GEO S&T\nRoadmap implementation.\nFor European countries, EGIDA\ndelivered the \\\"EGIDA Methodology\\\":\na sustainable mechanism based on\nthe GEO S&T approach at national and\nregional level, to coordinate national\nmulti-disciplinary \\\"System of Systems\\\".\nThis builds on existing national initiatives\nand European projects, and facilitates the\nEuropean S&T Community contributions\nto and interactions with GEOSS . The EGIDA\nMethodology can improve development\nand management of S&T infrastructures,\nsupporting mobilization of the resources\nneeded to contribute effectively to GEOSS .\nEGIDA involved developing countries by\ntransferring the EGIDA S&T methodology\nto them and implementing five specific\nuse cases: a pan-European thematic usecase\n(Air Quality and Health), two regional\nuse-cases (Air Quality and Environmental\nstatus in the Mediterranean region) and a\nsmall country use-case (Slovenia); during\nthe project, it was decided to conceive\nand add a new use case to revamp the S&T\ninitiatives for GEO Spain.\nEGIDA has embedded within a wide\nNetwork of Stakeholders selected to\nrepresent the various actors (science\nteams and institutions, S&T programmes,\nGEO components) and the scientific\nfields relevant to the nine GEOSS SBA s.\nThis network, called EGIDA Stakeholder\nNetwork, has evolved in the GEOSS Science\nand Technology Stakeholder Network,\nan important instrument for GEOSS to\nimplement a user-driven process. This was\nan important success of the project.\nThe EGIDA achievements are useful\ninstruments contributing to close the\ngeographical gaps particularly in developing\ncountries. The project identified S&T\ncommunities currently not sufficiently\nlinked to GEO and GEOSS and promoted\ntheir involvement. It provides a significant\nset of use-case for the EGIDA methodology\ntransfer process, focusing on partnership,\ninfrastructures, products and services."@en . @prefix ns11: . prodotto:ID281531 pubblicazioni:editore ns11:ID1035 ; prodottidellaricerca:prodottoDi modulo:ID8733 , istituto:CDS046 ; pubblicazioni:autoreCNR unitaDiPersonaleInterno:MATRICOLA9670 , unitaDiPersonaleInterno:MATRICOLA9902 . ns11:ID1035 pubblicazioni:editoreDi prodotto:ID281531 .
