Born on 28.11.1972 in Milan (Italy), married with two children.

1991-1992 Studies at the Department of Physics, University of California - Berkeley. 1992-1998 Degree in Physics from the University of Parma, degree mark 110/110 cum laude 1998-2000 Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Physics from Trinity College Dublin (Ireland) 2000-2003 Ph.D. Diploma in Physics from the University of Parma, with research at IMEM-CNR (Institute of Materials for Electronics and Magnetism of the Italian Research Council)

2003 - 2006: Fixed term researcher at IMEM-CNR. 2006 - 2009: Grant holder supported by FIRB project of the Italian Research Minister. . 2009 -: Permanent CNR researcher at IMEM-CNR.

Relevant activities / Projects

1998-2000: Training Mobility Research network EMIT (ElectroMagnetic Interactions in Tunneling) of the European Union (6th Framework Project).

2000-2003: CNR project MADESS II.

2003-2006: fixed-term researcher in the FIRB project "Nanotechnologies and Nanodevices for the Information Society" of the Italian Research Minister.

2004-2008: participation in the EU Network of Excellence "SANDiE - Self-assembled nanostructures for new Devices in photonics and Electronics" (6th Framework Project).

2010: Project coordinator of proposal SHINY-MAT "Solar cells with High efficiency based on novel INtermediate energY band MATerials" for the call FIRB of Italian Research Minister.

2012: CNR Unit coordinator of proposal gIRaSOLE " InteRmediate band SOLar cells based on Quantum Dot and Impurity Levels for the call FIRB of Italian Research Minister.

2014: CNR Unit Coordinator in EU COST Action "Nanoscale Quantum Optics" (NQO).

2015-2016: Project coordinator of proposal SINPHONY "SIngle and eNtangled PHOton sources Network of training for Young researchers" for the EU call MSCA-ETN-HO2020 (10 beneficiaries + 7 associated partners).

2016: CNR Unit coordinator of Regional Project Emilia-Romagna "Industry 4.0"

2018: Participation in NATO (North-Atlantic Treaty Organization) Project "UnExploDe" (Portable sensors for unmanned explosive detection)

2018: Participation in Project ASI - INAF (Italian Space Agency) "Increase of the Technological Readiness Level for the realization of hard X-/soft Gamma-ray Laue optics".

Teaching experience: - Lectures in the framework of project "Scientific Degrees / Material Science" of the University of Parma, for students of secondary schools - Lectures for the "European School for Advanced Studies (ESAS) in Materials Science" (University of Pavia) and for Bologna International School on NanoMaterials Physics (2018) for PhD students (2012-2015). - External examiner for 3 PhD Thesis Defenses at University of Valencia (2010), UAM Madrid (2011), University of Lancaster (2013).

1) MOVPE Growth, characterization and modelling of semiconductor Nanowires for application in sensing.

2) CVD Growth of 2D Materials - Transition-metal dichalcogenides MoS2

3) MOVPE Growth and characterization of high-band semiconductor oxides - Ga2O3.

4) Modelization of semiconductor nanostructures (electrical properties, quantum energy systems, optical properties, strain conditions,...)

5) Design, growth and PL/AFM study of semiconductor quantum dots (QDs) suitable as single photon sources for applications in quantum computing and quantum cryptography.
