Fabio Michele Rana received a degree in Electronic Engineering (field: Telecommunications) at the Polytechnic of Bari on March 2006 with a dissertation on "SAR Geocoding". He obtained the master degree "Technologies in Spaceborne Remote Sensing" at the Department of Physics of the University of Bari on June 2008 working on the applications of multi-temporal SAR Interferometry for slope and building instability monitoring. He received his doctorate in Electrical And Information Engineering at Polytechnic of Bari on April 2016 with a thesis titled "Exploitation of Satellite Synthetic Aperture Radar Data for Geophysical Parameters Retrieval over Land and Ocean". From July 2008 until September 2010, he worked as a contract Researcher at the Polytechnic and the University of Bari and for the academical spin-off GAP (Geophysical Applications Processing) S.r.l. focusing on advanced processing techniques for SAR Forward and Inverse Geocoding as well as for radarcoded ellipsoidal/topographic Phase Fields and DTM simulation. Since October 2010, he has been with the National Research Council of Italy (CNR), first at the Institute of Intelligent Systems for Automation (ISSIA) and then the Institute of Atmospheric pollution (IIA), both in Bari.

Aree di interesse:

Main research interests are:

  1. the retrieval of high-resolution sea surface wind fields by using both C- and X-band SAR data.
  2. the development and the applications of multi-temporal (PS-InSAR) and multi-chromatic (MCA) SAR Interferometry techniques for ground displacement/elevation retrieval.
