Abstract
A personalized approach to (prevention,) diagnosis, prognosis and treatment is the cornerstone of precision medicine in oncology and set a founding element of multi-omic medicine, the last frontier of medical sciences. Achieving a personalized approach presupposes the integration of heterogeneous patients' data with a holistic perspective and in accordance with an omical approach (i.e., via analytic models that produce large amount of data or information over time to describe and interpret the processes under study). NAVIGATOR will set the first, regional virtual research environment to advance a personalized vision of the clinical management of malignant, solid tumors. The core component will be a Tuscan Biobank of cancer images and imaging biomarkers, set as a shared infrastructure that will support the discovery, test and proof of new models, biomarkers and predictive methods for a better understanding of cancer biology, risk and care.
