The Institute for Research on Innovation and Services for Development of the National Research Council of Italy (Cnr Iriss) is pleased to announce the Special Issue “Decision Analysis for Resilient and Sustainable Infrastructure Systems: Design and Planning with Digital Supports”, published in Sustainability (MDPI; Impact Factor 3.3, CiteScore 7.7).
Cities and infrastructure networks are increasingly exposed to climate-induced risks, underscoring the importance of integrating decision analysis into planning and design processes. Given the limited resources available to public administrations, proactive and data-driven approaches are essential to reduce the damages caused by extreme events and to support more resilient territorial transformations. Digital tools, including interoperable platforms, remote sensing, and spatial decision-support systems, play a crucial role in scenario-based planning and risk-sensitive decision-making.
This Special Issue invites contributions that explore how decision analysis methods and digital support systems can strengthen the resilience and sustainability of infrastructure systems. Submissions may address the evaluation of existing digital decision-support systems for developing resilient and sustainable infrastructures; the assessment of spatial tools for understanding and mitigating the impacts of extreme events on communities and infrastructure networks; and the development of innovative frameworks for next-generation digital decision-support systems for urban and territorial infrastructures. The Special Issue welcomes both research articles and critical essays.
