In the frame of the Horizon 2020 funded project Be.CULTOUR “Beyond Cultural Tourism” led by the Istituto di Ricerca su Innovazione e Servizi per lo Sviluppo (Cnr-Iriss), ERRIN announces that the registration for the Open Call to join the Be.CULTOUR COMMUNITY is now open!

The Open Call will be presented on Tuesday, 13th April, 14.00-16.15 CET, during the webinar “Creating destinations after a global pandemic: the new competitive advantage of remote areas”.

Within the Be.CULTOUR project, 6 pilot regions will co-create innovative place-based solutions for human-centred and circular cultural tourism. Collaborative “Heritage innovation networks” will be established in European deprived remote, peripheral and deindustrialised areas and cultural landscapes identified as “pilot heritage sites”: committed to the project’s objectives, they have defined clear cultural tourism-related challenges requiring innovation, which will serve as the basis for the collaboration with 12 additional “mirror ecosystems”, precisely the Be.CULTOUR Community.

12 local and regional representatives committed to shaping the future of cultural tourism will have the opportunity to  working closely with 6 pilot regions and to benefit from a fully-funded peer-learning scheme that follows the pilot/mirror approach.

Via quarterly community conversations, dedicated interviews, tailored webinars, and offline learning labs (Brussels in 2022 and Naples in 2023), the community members will interact closely with the 6 pilot ecosystems.

Emma Taveri, Chief Visionary Officer of Destination Makers, will open with an inspirational speech on the end of tourism as well as on the ongoing shift towards a visitor economy approach that wishes to create meaningful connections between tourists and the local communities that host them.

During the webinar, after the detailed presentation of the call, participants will have the opportunity to receive first-hand information on the open call, ask live questions to the partners of the consortium and discuss with panellists from additional networks and partnership, such as NECSTOUR, the EU Interregional Partnership on Sustainable and Digital Tourism, the European Tourism Organisation Association, and the European Destinations of Excellent Network.
