The "Descartes Laboratory" seminar is an online branch of the “Seminari Cartesiani di Villa Mirafiori”, organized by the Institute for the European Intellectual Lexicon and History of Ideas (Cnr-Iliesi) and La Sapienza Department of Philosophy.

The "Descartes Laboratory" is organized by Fabrizio Baldassarri and Simone Guidi, and it is planned to engage with the most recent works on Descartes as well as on 17th-century philosophy and natural philosophy connected with Cartesianism. The Laboratory involves PhD students, as well as post-doc researchers, giving them a space for discussion, which is of course open to anyone who would like to intervene.

The 26-27 programme includes four meetings on September 29, 2026 and January 19, March 2, and May 11, 2027: the event is in English, online and available at the "Descartes Laboratory" Seminar Scheduling 2026-2027.

The first meeting is scheduled on September 29, 2026, at 4:30 pm CET (Rome/Paris/Berlin/Amsterdam time), with the presentation of Théodora Psychoyou and Isabelle His's edited book "Penser, composer, pratiquer la musique au temps de Descartes", Honoré Champion, 2024. Discussants will be Jonathan Regier (Adam Mickiewicz University) and Domenica Romagni (Colorado State University).

The second meeting is scheduled on January 19, 2027, at 3 pm CET (Rome/Paris/Berlin/Amsterdam time), with the presentation of Gianluca Mori's book "Descartes: The Story of a Mind", Brill, 2025. Discussants will be Alberto De Vita (Università Salute-Vita San Raffaele) and Laura Moretti (Université Paris 1 - Panthéon-Sorbonne).

The third meeting is scheduled on March 2, 2027, at 2 pm CET (Rome/Paris/Berlin/Amsterdam time), with the presentation of Vili Lähteenmäki, Oberto Marrama and Jani Sinokki's edited book "Cartesianism and Philosophy of Mind", Routledge, 2025. Discussants will be Amedeo Robiolio (King’s College London) and Ruidan She (Institute of Philosophy, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences).

The fourth meeting is scheduled on May 11, 2027, at 3 pm CET (Rome/Paris/Berlin/Amsterdam time), with the presentation of Leendert van der Miesen's book "Marin Mersenne and the Study of Harmony.
